About the Artist
My name is Jan McKay, I was born in England, then moved to Ausrtralia and now live in the USA.
For the last 26 years I have been a professional Interior Designer, I have loved helping my clients make their homes beautiful, and still do !!! Being an interior designer does help me understand style, scale, color, and balance, which I now apply to paintings.
I am a wife, and until October of 2008 was a mother, when our beautiful daughter's life ended from an auto accident. Stephanie was nearly 15 years old. The reason I mention this is because she was the the reason I choose this new path. She loved art, and now so do I. Stephanie had a passion for life, in everything she did, in her Christian faith, in her competitive figure skating, and in her art, winning numerous awards for her talents. Several years ago someone saw her sketching, and recommended she take private lessons. We took her advice, and Stephanie started taking private lessons. The teacher invited me to sit in on the classes, which I did for 3 wonderful years. It was a very special time for the three of us. We became very close to her teacher.
After Stephanie passed, her teacher, and now my dear friend, suggested that I take art lessons from her. What a super suggestion! I did, and to continue my education, we go to art camps together. This was when I discovered my love for Art...
Now I wish to share with you my passion, by capturing your significant moments on canvas, by creating memories that will last a life time.
